Will You Pray: An Original Poem by Warren

Poem Background

I don’t recall what the motivation actually was with this one. I had been exploring with the theme of 4 seasons and rebirth and resurrection … and as my professor suggested, it often appeared as if I was happier staying in winter rather than spring.

This would be an example of that tendency I suppose.

Will You Pray

By Warren Wojnowski

Watching while the mortals cry
I feel their pain
And then I laugh
at the final realization of
their lies.
And the steaming summer wind blows hot
I’ve no warmth within my soul.
And will you pray
for me
tonight?

Listening as the seasons change
I see the wondering
And then I wonder
when the sightless eyes
will hear.
And the brisk autumn wind blows cool
I’ve no warmth within my soul.
And will you pray
for me
tonight?

Walking along the winding road
I hear the laughter
But cannot laugh
as the echo of those silent
voices rings.
And the bitter winter wind blows cold
I’ve no warmth within my soul.
And will you pray
for me
tonight?

Tasting the joyful juices of fruit
I smell the lingering stench
And then I revolt as the rumbling thunder
slowly fades.
An the regenerating spring wind blows warm
Have I warmth within my soul?
And will you pray
for me
tonight?
